De Lima wins WAC diving title

Hawaii's Stephanie De Lima won the platform diving title on the opening day of the Western Athletic Conference women's swimming and diving championships yesterday in San Antonio.

De Lima scored 259.83 points as a UH diver claimed the title for the sixth straight year. UH ended the day fifth in the team standings with 70 points. The meet continues today.

The UH men's team opened the Conference USA championships in third place. UH's 800-yard freestyle relay team of Vlad Anastasescu, Lazar Bogdanovski, James Clarke and Mark Higley posted a second-place finish.

 

Stanford shuts out UH tennis team

No. 11 Stanford overpowered the Hawaii women's tennis team in a 7-0 win yesterday in Stanford, Calif.

With five nationally ranked singles players, the Cardinal (7-0) didn't drop a set in sending the Rainbow Wahine (1-8) to their sixth straight road loss and extending their home winning streak to 156 consecutive matches.

 

Seasiders swept by Dixie State

Dixie State swept a softball doubleheader against Brigham Young-Hawaii yesterday in Laie, beating the Seasiders 9-0 in the opener and 9-2 in the second game.

BYUH (0-12, 0-4 PacWest) managed just two hits in the first game.

Fourth-ranked Dixie State took a 9-0 lead in the second game before BYUH's Jarrell Veazie hit a two-run homer in the fifth.
