QUESTION: How can I get my cat to exercise?

ANSWER: Cats need lots of exercise and mental stimulation. Since they are natural hunters, they love to play with fishing pole-type toys with feathers at the end of them. Mimic the movements of a bird or insect flying overhead or a small animal scurrying across the floor by moving the toy in short, jerky motions. Play with your cat as often as you can for about 10 minutes at a time, perhaps while you're talking on the phone or watching television.
