Diamond Saints
The St. Francis softball team made 7-year-old Bailey Reindollar an honorary member for the upcoming St. Francis Strike Out Cancer Tournament.
Reindollar, a leukemia patient, is midway through chemotherapy treatment. She'll throw out the first pitch at the tourney, which begins on Saturday at Patsy T. Mink Central Oahu Regional Park.
Ocasek to Hofstra
Word of Life junior Kainoa Ocasek is bound for the Empire State.
The outside hitter gave Hofstra University a oral commitment to play volleyball. Ocasek will join three current islanders on the team: Kylee Maneja (Sacred Hearts), Maile Scarpino ('Iolani) and Ayesha Hein (St. Andrew's).
Ocasek, who also paddles and throws the discus, made a few unofficial visits to the university.
“;I had a good feeling and pretty much made up my mind during the visit,”; she said. “;It'll feel like home. I like the coaches' intensity.”;
Former Roosevelt all-state player Shellane Ogoshi was the first islander to play there; Hofstra recently retired her jersey.
