Digging doggies need designated den

QUESTION: My dog is destroying the garden with digging. What can we do?
ANSWER: Identify a place in your yard where he can dig. Put a visual border around it using stones, bricks, wood or low fencing. Fill the area with loose dirt or sand. A combination of both can be attractive to dogs. To encourage your dog to use its new digging pit, bury valued treasures — such as treats, bones and toys — just below the surface. Supervise her for a few weeks, praise her for using the correct area and redirect her if she starts to dig in wrong places.
