Welcome to the neighborhood | Salt Lake / Aliamanu
POSTED: Sunday, February 21, 2010
The widening of Salt Lake Boulevard for one mile from Maluna Street to Ala Lilikoi Street is a major issue. The project was stopped because the transit rail was going to come through Salt Lake Boulevard, but the City Council changed the route to go to the airport.
Another concern is the parking problems we have because of the number of condos we have in Salt Lake. Ohana housing also causes a big problem with parking spaces. The rail project would have helped with our concern on parking. It has been very frustrating for the board members to find solutions to our parking problem. We will continue to work on it until we can resolved some of those concerns.
Our Neighborhood Board No. 18 has a graffiti task force led by volunteer Howard Shima, a former board member. This task force is committed to keeping graffiti off our neighborhood walls, etc.
OUR TOP ISSUES
1. Widening of Salt Lake Boulevard to be completed 2. Keeping the community informed of the rail transit updates
3. Improving quality of life, such as deterring criminal activity, improving parking and traffic safety
4. To better know our community partners: schools, businesses, government officials, and the military
|
We enjoy working with the members of the board and the government officials because we seem to get things done that have been brought up as concerns for years.
SO SPECIAL
Working together for a better future
We are trying to work together to find solutions to concerns that are brought before the neighborhood board.
The members on the board seem to be committed to work together, and members of the community have been great volunteering on task forces and other projects.
FACTS & FIGURES
