UH starts scholarship foundation for Rocha

A scholarship foundation is being set up in memory of Red Rocha, the former University of Hawaii basketball coach and NBA player who died last week.

Rocha's funeral will be held tomorrow in Corvallis, Ore.

Cards or flowers or donations to the Red Rocha Memorial Scholarship Fund can be sent to Rocha Funeral, c/o McHenry Funeral Home, 206 NW 5th St., Corvallis, OR 97370.

 

UH golf team in 11th place

The University of Hawaii men's golf team was in 11th place yesteday after two rounds of the John A. Burns Intercollegiate at Leilehua Golf Course.

Cory Oride and T.J. Kua of the Warriors are tied for ninth at 4-under 140.

California leads the team standings at 18-under 558 and Stephen Hale of the Bears is the individual leader at 8-under 136.

 

Dixie State women stop BYUH in basketball

Dixie State took a 19-point halftime lead and never looked back in a 96-74 women's basketball victory over Brigham Young-Hawaii at Laie yesterday.

Richelle Fenenbock had a team-high 17 points for the Seasiders (8-13, 4-7).

Five players for the Red Storm (13-7, 9-2) scored 10 or more points, led by Johnna Brown's game-high 21.
