LET IT SNOW
Entire nation feels the chill at once
Snow in Hawaii made the national weather reports yesterday, thanks to a University of Oklahoma student's endeavor to find proof of snow in all 50 states on the same day. Meteorology student Patrick Marsh's project was to collect photos of snow somewhere on the ground in each state last Friday. Hawaii was the last holdout—till Marsh received a photo of small patches of the white stuff near the summit of Mauna Kea. He said the snow was likely left over from a November storm. His project can be viewed online at www.patricktmarsh.com/snow-shot-of-america/.
FEELING GOOD
Life's harder off the island
All's well in Hawaii.
And if one needs the hard data to support that theory, look no further than the 2009 Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index, which ranks Hawaii as No. 1 when it comes to residents' sense of well-being. The city of Honolulu ranked third out of 186 metro areas surveyed. Using telephone surveys, the poll asked people about aspects such as quality of life and future outlook as well as their emotional, physical and work lives.
MEA CULPA
Tiger Woods has something he wants to say
Before the PGA tour, comes the apology tour.
Tiger Woods will end nearly three months of silence tomorrow when he speaks publicly for the first time since his middle-of-the-night car accident sparked revelations of repeated infidelity.
Woods won't take questions at the carefully scripted event, but media will be present to hear him apologize and talk about what he plans to do next.
“;While Tiger feels that what happened is fundamentally a matter between he and his wife, he also recognizes that he has hurt and let down a lot of other people who were close to him. He also let down his fans. He wants to begin the process of making amends and that's what he's going to discuss,”; his agent, Mark Steinberg, explained.
