Campbell takes down Farrington in OT, earns state tourney berth

Kristian Manuel scored 22 points to lead eighth-ranked Campbell over visiting Farrington 68-63 in overtime in the Oahu Interscholastic Association Red Conference boys basketball playoffs last night.

The win clinched a spot for the Sabers in next week's Division I state tournament.

Manuel scored 10 points in the first quarter, and Campbell was up as many as 20 points in the first half before Farrington rallied behind Lancelot Williams, who drained three 3-pointers in the third quarter.

“;We started turning the ball over and they came back, so hats off to them,”; Campbell coach Wyatt Tau said.

The sixth-ranked Red Raiders used 3-point shooting to their advantage as they pulled away for a convincing home win against the Mules in the OIA Red playoffs.

Kahuku hit seven treys (including three by Nehoa Akina and three by Sage Kaka) as the Red Raiders outscored the Mules by 21 in the second half.
