Man is arrested after teen is forced into car

Honolulu police arrested a 20-year-old Waianae man who allegedly held a 14-year-old boy at gunpoint and drove him around for nearly two hours after accusing the boy of stealing from him.

The incident happened Monday at about 4:45 p.m. Police said the man confronted the boy, pulled a gun and told him to get in a car. The boy escaped from the man's car, ran home and told his mother, who called police.

The suspect was arrested later at his home.

Man wanted in Hilo held in Oregon heist

A man wanted on the Big Island for a Hilo theft was arrested in Portland, Ore., earlier this month.

U.S. marshals notified Big Island police that Michael Kirk Foley, also known as Michael Foley-Long, was arrested for bank robbery in East Portland, Ore., and is being held on federal charges.

Big Island police were looking for Foley for trying to take a shopping cart full of food and other items from a Hilo grocery store.

Police said Foley had lived in Keaau on the Big Island for about three to four years and is originally from Utah.

When an employee tried to stop him, he got into a pickup truck and allegedly drove toward the employee, police said.

He was wanted for theft and reckless endangering.

Ward Avenue bank robbed twice in a week

The Honolulu police helicopter hovered over Kakaako yesterday as police searched for a bank robbery suspect.

Police said a man robbed the First Hawaiian Bank branch, 420 Ward Ave., at 9:54 a.m.

The branch is the same bank that was robbed on Thursday. In that robbery a man entered the bank, approached a teller and demanded money.

Police said he fled on foot, heading mauka on Ward Avenue.
