Akiu immediately followed his penalty-kick miss with a goal on the rebound in overtime as Mililani edged Kapolei 2-1 for the OIA Red title. He scored both of the Trojans' goals.

The freshman goalkeeper made seven saves against Kalani and seven saves against Mililani in the state tournament. She also had two saves during the deciding penalty-kicks portion after overtime as the Buffanblu defeated the Trojans for the title.
