Man improves after being pinned under van

A man in his 40s was in serious condition last night after he was pinned under a van at the Aliamanu Military Housing.

At about 8:29 yesterday morning, Honolulu firefighters responded to a construction site at 199 Skyview Loop.

Fire personnel spent 30 minutes extricating the man from beneath the vehicle. Paramedics stabilized him before he was transported to the Queen's Medical Center in critical condition. The man's condition later improved to serious, said Emergency Medical Services spokesman Bryan Cheplic.

Paramedics also treated a woman in her late 20s for minor injuries after she was apparently struck by the van. She was transported in stable condition.

Suspect in beating of woman arrested

Police arrested one of four suspects in connection with the beating of an elderly woman at her home in Waianae last month.

A 18-year-old man was arrested Friday on Kaukama Road in Waianae.

On Jan. 26 at about 12:43 p.m., the 68-year-old victim was standing in her carport when two males approached her. Police said the pair asked the woman if “;Ryan”; was home. The woman said she did not know anyone named “;Ryan.”;

The woman only remembers regaining consciousness in her living room chair, covered in blood with her dentures knocked out of her mouth, according to police.

Police look for pair in Waianae stabbing

Police are looking for two suspects who allegedly stabbed a man while attempting to rob him at a Waianae bus stop yesterday morning.

The 28-year-old victim was waiting at a bus stop at Waianae District Park when two men approached about 3:10 a.m., police said.

One of the suspects tried to take the man's backpack, and during the brief struggle, the second suspect stabbed the man in his arm, police said.

Both suspects fled by running onto the Waianae Intermediate School campus.

The victim was treated and released from the hospital.

Man allegedly beats his estranged wife

Police arrested a 41-year-old man for allegedly beating his 27-year-old estranged wife and hit and kicked her car Friday evening.

The pair got into an argument at about 6:15 p.m. Friday. The fight escalated when the suspect allegedly threw the woman's phone onto a Makiki-area street and punched and kicked the woman's car, police said. When the woman got into her car, she was allegedly slapped in the head.

Teen allegedly steals mo-ped up for sale

A 17-year-old boy was arrested Friday for allegedly stealing a mo-ped that was about to be sold to him.

A 45-year-old man put his moped up for sale on Craigslist, an online classified ad site. The moped is valued at more than $1,000. The suspect responded to the ad, and the two agreed to meet at a Pearl City street at about 5 p.m. Friday, police said. But the suspect allegedly started the mo-ped and drove away. Police officers, who were familiar with the teenager, located him with the mo-ped and arrested him on suspicion of second-degree theft. He was released pending investigation.
