Corpuz taking her shot

Kapolei phenom Allisen Corpuz will try to make her way into the field of the Hawaii Pearl Open on Tuesday.

Corpuz, 11, was the youngest golfer to compete in a U.S. Golf Association championship when she entered the U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links Championship in 2008.

University of Hawaii golfer Jared Sawada will also be trying to make it into the field.

Corpuz will tee off in qualifying on Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. at the Pearl Country Club.

The tournament begins Friday with Jesse Mueller and Bradley Shigezawa trying to defend their titles.

Hawaii golfers finish 18th

T.J Kua tied for 21st place and the Hawaii men's golf team finished 18th at the Amer Ari Invitational yesterday on the Big Island.

Kua carded consecutive 74s before finishing with a final-round 72. Stanford won the team title and Texas's Bobby Hudson won individual medalist honors.

Sea Warriors stay undefeated

Jazminn Awa-Williams scored 24 points on 10-for-15 shooting to lead Hawaii Pacific past Notre Dame de Namur 68-62 last night at Blaisdell Arena.

Genesis Lewis added 18 points and Mana Hopkins and Paris Gravely each had 10 as the Sea Warriors (13-4, 8-0) remained undefeated in conference play.
