Congratulations to longtime friend Larry Price, who will be inducted into Chaminade's Silversword Hall of Fame tonight at the university's Intercollegiate Athletics Gala at the Pacific Beach Hotel. “;It's very humbling,”; Larry said Thursday. Larry was born in Kalihi and raised in Kaaawa in a house that his family painted red and gold, Roosevelt High's colors. The Price boys played football at Roosevelt. Larry has accomplished much since graduating from RHS in 1952. Today he is a business administration professor at Chaminade and is widely known for his broadcast work on the Perry and Price top-rated KSSK morning radio show and for being a MidWeek columnist. He spent eight years in the Army, the 8th Airborne Division artillery, where he established himself as an outstanding athlete. After leaving the service, Larry entered the University of Hawaii and was one of the best football linemen in the university's history. What's more, he later became UH head football coach. Besides graduating from UH in 1967, Larry's education includes a masters from UH in 1971 and a doctorate from USC in 1985. Right on, Larry, you've worked hard for all you have achieved. Now for something really important. As for tomorrow's Super Bowl, Larry feels as many of us do that the New Orleans Saints deserve it after all the city went through after Hurricane Katrina. But he said they've got to get to Peyton Manning, the Indianapolis Colts' quarterback with the Golden Arm. Larry added that he coached Archie Manning, Peyton's dad, here in the Hula Bowl in the early 1970s …
