UH drops USF in men's tennis
The Hawaii men's tennis team continued its hot start with a 5-2 win over host San Francisco.
The Warriors, ranked No. 42, improved to 5-1.
After losing the doubles point, Hawaii recovered by winning five of six singles, including straight-set victories at No. 1 (Dennis Lajola), No. 2 Andreas Weber and No. 4 (Leo Rosenberg). The three are all 5-0.
Elite distance event at Thompson meet
In conjunction with this week's Dr. Donnis Thompson Memorial Meet, the Hawaii women's track and field team is hosting an elite distance carnival featuring a men's mile race where runners will attempt to break the four-minute mile barrier.
Also on the schedule at UH's Ching Field is an elite women's 5,000-meter race. Tomorrow's events start at 3 p.m. with Saturday's competition beginning at 4 p.m.

Grant given for wheelchair tennis
The Ala Moana Wheelchair Tennis Club was won of 23 national programs to receive a grant from the U.S. Tennis Association yesterday.
The club will share in the $34,000 grant monies to promote and develop the growth of the sport.
UH loses first water polo match
Emil Csikos scored three goals to lead Cal past Hawaii 7-4, dealing the fifth-ranked Hawaii women's water polo team its first loss of the season yesterday. Dagmar Genne scored twice for UH in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation opener for both at the Spieker Aquatic Center in Berkeley, Calif. Monika Eggens and Saara Majuri added goals for Hawaii (4-1) against the Golden Bears (6-0).

Seasiders down Urban Knights
Richelle Fenenbock and Felisita Ika each scored 17 points to lift the Brigham Young-Hawaii women's basketball team to an 80-75 win over Academy of Art last night at Cannon Activities Center.
Losaline Faka 'osi came off the bench to score 10 points and Lindsey Sundin grabbed 12 rebounds for the Seasiders (6-11, 2-5 PacWest).
Verity Peets scored 19 points for the Urban Knights (6-13, 2-6).
Seasiders to No. 7 in poll
The Brigham Young-Hawaii men's basketball team moved up one spot to No. 7 in the NCAA II West Regional poll released yesterday.
The Seasiders are 10-5 overall, 7-4 in the region.
