» Notes: Mickelson finished 19th last week in San Diego in his season debut. ... Young Japanese star Ryo Ishikawa is in the field. He missed the cut last year at Riviera in his PGA Tour debut. ... Ben Hogan stamped the course as “;Hogan's Alley”; with three victories in 17 months—the 1947 and '48 Los Angeles Opens and '48 U.S. Open.
