Blaze ousts family of 5 from their house in Hana

A family of five in Hana is being helped by the American Red Cross after their home was heavily damaged by fire on Sunday, Maui County fire officials said.

The fire was first reported at 1:58 p.m. at the Honokalani Road home.

The two adults and three children who live in the home were not home at the time.

The blaze caused $40,000 in damage to the structure and $10,000 to contents, officials said.

The cause of the fire is undetermined and remains under investigation.
