14 vying for Cherry Blossom crown
The 58th Cherry Blossom Festival announced its 14 contestants last week at an opening ceremony at Honolulu Country Club.
Those vying for the crown are Michelle Mariko Fujii, Kimberly Chie Fujinaka, Cori Kiyoko Hanagame, Andrea Mie Hiura, Lauren Elise Horikoshi, Allison-Jae Mikiala Hyun, Marissa Nicole Machida, Dawn Mayumi Nakagawa, Becky Lynn Ogata, Jonelle Yukiko Shintaku, Rhandi Tam'ara Uehara, Lindsey Chiharu Uema, Hisae Jennifer Uki and Kimberlee Marika Young. Contestants were selected for their dedication to perpetuating Japanese culture, their commitment to education and passion for community service.
Contestants will make appearances across Oahu and participate in fashion shows, golf tournaments and receptions. The winner will be chosen March 27 during a festival ball at the Hawaii Theatre.
