Woman hit with hammer and robbed in Punchbowl
Police are looking for two men who robbed a 22-year-old woman yesterday in Punchbowl.
At about 4 a.m. the woman got into a white Toyota 4Runner driven by a man 25 to 30 years old with another man in the back seat.
While driving, the driver pulled out a hammer and hit the woman on the head, police said. The woman escaped, but the man drove off with her purse and cell phone.
Police said the woman does not know the men.
Arson investigation opens after Kalihi warehouse fire
Police have opened a first-degree arson case in connection with a Kalihi warehouse fire.
Police said no one was at the warehouse at the time of the fire Friday night, and a fire investigator found the fire was suspicious.
Firefighters responded to the fire on the corner of Republican and Mokauea streets at about 10:30 p.m. Friday. The fire was extinguished by 2 a.m.
The blaze caused $475,000 in damage to Lava Lining in the Ewa part of the warehouse.
Home blaze on Big Island causes $95,000 in damage
Big Island firefighters are investigating the cause of a fire that damaged a one-bedroom home yesterday afternoon in Pahoa.
Firefighters responded to the 2:03 p.m. alarm and found the 900-square-foot home fully engulfed in flames, a fire report said.
Firefighters extinguished the fire at 13-617 Hinalo St. in less than 30 minutes.
The blaze caused $95,000 in damage. No one was home at the time, and no one was injured.
Suspect arrested in robbery of homeless man in Kalihi
Police arrested a 38-year-old homeless man Thursday on suspicion of robbing a 63-year-old homeless man last year in Kalihi.
At about 2:30 p.m. Nov. 6, the victim returned to an area where he sleeps when an acquaintance who also stays in the area punched him, police said.
The suspect continued to hit the victim repeatedly, then took his bag, which contained money and other items, police said.
Officers arrested the suspect at about 11 a.m. Thursday at 2686 N. Nimitz Highway near Keehi Lagoon Park on suspicion of first-degree robbery.
Women refuse to give man money in robbery attempt
Police arrested a 25-year-old Makakilo man who was spurned by two women he allegedly tried to rob in Ewa Beach.
At about 3:50 p.m. Friday, the man implied he had a weapon and demanded that the women, a 19-year-old and a 31-year-old, give him a cash box, police said.
The women ignored his demand and the man ran away.
Officers arrested the man later, booking him on suspicion of second-degree robbery. He was released pending investigation.
