UH's Rosenberg advances in Challenger
Hawaii sophomore Leo Rosenberg advanced to the round of 16 in the Honolulu Challenger with a first-round win over Hendrik Bode at Central Oahu Regional Park yesterday.
Rosenberg, playing as an amateur in the tennis event featuring a mix of pros and college players, advanced to face No. 2 seed Kevin Kim, the 108th-ranked player in the world, tomorrow after the 6-4, 7-6 (3) decision over Bode, a former Hawaii Pacific University player.
Rosenberg picked up seven ATP points for advancing.
The tourney's top seed, Michael Russell, advanced over Ryler Deheart in the $50,000 USTA Pro Circuit event.
UH's other player in the event, junior Dennis Lajola, lost during qualifying play on Sunday.
