Chun resigns from KGMB/KHNL

Liz Chun, the first female sports director at a major Honolulu television station and the most prominent female sportscaster in Hawaii history, resigned from her position at Hawaii News Now (KGMB-KHNL) on Friday.

Chun had been sports director and weekday anchor at KGMB nearly eight years, and at the KGMB-KHNL conglomerate after the stations merged last year.

She had been on leave the past several weeks, caring for her ill father, Ernest Chun, who died recently.

Wahine lose to Broncos

Breanna Arbuckle scored 16 points and Dita Liepkalne added 13 but it wasn't enough to prevent the Hawaii women's basketball team from losing to Boise State 73-64 last night in Boise, Idaho.

It was the second straight loss for the Rainbow Wahine (8-12, 2-5 WAC), who are 0-4 in conference road games. The Broncos (13-6, 2-3) improved to 9-1 at Taco Bell Arena.

Hawaii led for most of the contest, including 55-50 on a layup by Arbuckle with 7:20 to go. But the Broncos outscored the Wahine 23-9, going 12-for-12 from the free-throw line in pulling away.

Hawaii begins a three-game home-stand Wednesday against San Jose State (5-13, 1-4).
