Clubs join up to help Haiti

HONOLULU'S club kids will deal with the recent catastrophic earthquake in Haiti the only way they know how—with a benefit party in Chinatown tonight.
“;Rage for Haiti”; is a collaborative effort by venues NextDoor, Manifest and SoHo Mixed Media Bar that will feature live music and drink specials, with all proceeds from the night's cover charge going to relief efforts in Haiti. In addition, once you pay cover at one nightclub, you'll receive a wristband allowing access to the other two as well.
According to a new Twitter account set up for the party (@rageforhaiti), entertainment will be provided by 82Fifty, Anuhea Jenkins, the Deadbeats, O'oe Carr, the Jumpoffs' Oliver Boe and Kimie Miner. Carr, Boe and 82Fifty will be at SoHo, while Miner and Jenkins will be at Manifest and the Deadbeats headline NextDoor. Doors open at 7 p.m. at SoHo; the other venues open at 9 p.m.
If you can't make it to Chinatown tonight, the ladies of Cherry Blossom Cabaret will host “;Aloha for Haiti”; next Friday at the Mercury Bar. They'll be joined by Willow Chang, Samba Axe, Bridget Gray, the Dakini Dance Company, Jason Tom, Laughtrack Theater and DJs Jetboy and Rolando de la Vega. According to producer Alan Wolensky, the series will feature three- to five-minute episodes that will air online and in more than 12,000 hotel rooms on Oahu. The show will take viewers “;on a journey to re-discover hidden secrets of Waikiki, exploring the magic of Waikiki's cultural sites, hotels, shops, restaurants, lounges and bars.”;
Sunday's final casting call at the Sheraton Waikiki's The Edge will wrap up a search for hosts and corespondents for the series; the evening will double as a bar-tending competition to invent a cocktail, dubbed the Waikiki Dream.

FRIDAY'S PICKS: After a stint at House of Fortune in Kapolei that ended last month, DJ James Coles' “;Flashback Fridays”; resurfaces this weekend at Hawaiian Brian's Billiards on Kapiolani Boulevard. “;Flashback Fridays: '80s vs. '90s”; will pair Coles with fellow Clubland veteran DJ Kutmaster Spaz; local b-boy crew 808 Breakers will also be on hand. This is the first time Coles and Spaz have teamed up; the party starts at 9 p.m. tonight, and there is no cover ... Reggae band Rebel Souljahz will make its Shack Waikiki debut during tonight's “;Friday Night Luau”; at the Waikiki Trade Center. It will be joined by resident DJs Rude Dogg and Anrky; live performances are expected to start around 10 p.m. California horror punk-rockers The Spooky arrive in town to help welcome back local band The Hell Caminos tonight at LOFT Gallery and Lounge, starting at 9 p.m. The Hell Caminos took a break when front man Mike Camino left to tour with other bands on the mainland, but now the band is back and badder than ever. SATURDAY'S PICKS: New Zealand reggae band 3 Houses Down headlines the annual “;Throw Da Shaka”; concert at the Waikiki Shell. They'll be joined by Fiji, Ten Feet, Nesian N.I.N.E., The Green, Mana'o Company, Rebel Souljahz, Kiwini Vaitai, Laga Savea and Siaosi Taulani. Tickets are priced at $15, $25 and $40, with a portion of the proceeds going to the Konishiki Kids Foundation. The show starts at 5:30 p.m. ...
