Mayor Mufi Hannemann has received one of three 2010 Public Leadership in the Arts Awards from Americans for the Arts and the United States Conference of Mayors.
Other winners were Oregon Gov. Ted Kulongoski and musician Michael Feinstein.
Hannemann was presented the 2010 Award for Local Arts Leadership yesterday for creating opportunities to use the arts as a catalyst for economic development and community revitalization in Honolulu, the organizations said. The annual awards were given at the Conference of Mayors' 78th meeting in Washington, D.C.
Honolulu has become a film and TV production hub for the state, according to the group. Hannemann also helped develop the ARTS at Marks Garage downtown in collaboration with the Hawaii State Arts Alliance.
