Economic forecast to be focus of financial analyst dinner
The sixth annual economic forecast dinner of Chartered Financial Analyst Hawaii will be held from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Feb. 11 at Waialae Country Club.
Speakers include Patrick Dimick, portfolio strategist with Bridgewater Associates; Michael Bazdarich, chief economist with Western Asset Management Co.; and moderator Fred Katayama, anchor with Thompson Reuters. Opening remarks will be made by Curtis Arledge, managing director and co-head of U.S. fixed income with BlackRock.

Hawaii Self Storage taking college scholarship queries
Hawaii Self Storage is accepting applications for its college scholarship program.
The company will offer 12 qualified students $1,000 scholarships renewable annually for a maximum of two years toward an associate degree and up to four years for a bachelor's degree. To qualify for the scholarship, students must be graduating seniors from one of the following public high schools: Aiea, Farrington, Pearl City, Kaimuki, Kalani, Kapolei, Mililani, Moanalua, Radford, Waipahu, McKinley and Leilehua.
Students also must be Hawaii residents formally accepted into or enrolled in a recognized degree program at an accredited two- or four-year institution of higher education and be enrolled full time with a minimum of 12 credits per semester or the minimum number of credits required by the degree program to apply. To renew the scholarship, students must maintain a cumulative minimum GPA of 3.0 each year.

Hawaii Self Storage has committed more than $200,000 to nearly 60 scholarships in the past four years.
Chaminade business program holding nonprofit contest
Chaminade University's Hogan Entrepreneurial Program and American Savings Bank are conducting their annual Business Plan Competition, held for the nonprofit sector.
Winners will receive cash awards of $12,000, $6,000 and $4,000. A special award of 100 hours of integrated communications services also will be given, courtesy of Loomis-ISC.
The deadline for the competition's statement of intent form is Feb. 5.
