CBS has given the go-ahead for the making of a pilot episode that could lead to a contemporary remake of the popular TV series “;Hawaii Five-O.”;

The Hollywood Reporter reported yesterday that an updated version of the classic cop series will be created by movie-TV writers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci and “;CSI: NY”; executive producer Peter Lenkov.

It went on to say that Kurtzman and Orci co-wrote the story for the pilot with Lenkov, who penned the script under their supervision. All three are executive producers of the pilot.

Kurtzman and Orci, co-creators and executive producers of Fox's sci-fi drama “;Fringe,”; also wrote box office hits “;Star Trek,”; the two “;Transformers”; movies and “;Mission: Impossible III.”;

There is no word yet whether the pilot episode will be shot in Hawaii.
