Slow Art Fridays to offer laid-back Chinatown vibe

With the success of First Friday established, the art galleries of the Chinatown District are organizing a more laid-back gallery walk for the third Friday of each month, beginning this Friday.

From 5 to 7 p.m., attend openings of new shows and enjoy special local, organic and drink recipes at bars and restaurants in the area. Organizers hope the quieter atmosphere will allow visitors to take their time appreciating the artwork on display and create opportunity for discussion among the artists, gallery directors and their audience.

A press release announcing the new event says, “;Slow Art Friday seeks to encourage a shift toward slowing down, taking time to enjoy the moment, and fostering deeper connections to art, to people and to life.”;
