About 1,100 employees will be offered a voluntary separation package as part of the work force reduction, which is meant to streamline the company's U.S. small-package segment. Other cuts will come through attrition and layoffs. There will be no impact in Hawaii, a spokesman said.

The footwear and accessories company also said it will consolidate its management staff to sharpen its attention to female shoppers' needs.

The retailer, which has 19 stores in Hawaii, has tried to offset slowing U.S. sales with tighter inventory management and increased cost-control efforts. The company said the job cuts would come in its home office and field management operations. It did not identify what stores would be closed.
