Tropical turquoise colors 2010
Pantone LLC has named turquoise the color of the year for 2010. The color — combining the serene qualities of blue and invigorating aspects of green — already surrounds us, and was chosen for its transportive effect, according to Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute.
“;In many cultures, turquoise occupies a very special position in the world of color,”; Eiseman said. “;It is believed to be a protective talisman, a color of deep compassion and healing, and a color of faith and truth, inspired by water and sky. Through years of color word-association studies, we also find that turquoise represents an escape to many, taking them to a tropical paradise that is pleasant and inviting, even if only a fantasy.”;
In fashion, turquoise is universally flattering for men and women, and translates easily to fashion and interiors. With both warm and cool undertones, the color adds excitement to neutrals and browns, complements reds and pinks, creates a classic maritime look with deep blues, enlivens all other greens, and looks especially contemporary with yellow-greens.
Because of its versatility, turquoise is a great accent color in jewelry, purses, shoes and hair accessories for women, and ties, shirts and sportswear for men.

Local soaps pamper president
The leader of the free world may be tough in the negotiating room, but after his vacation in Hawaii, he returns to our nation's capital with softer skin thanks to Lanikai Bath and Body.
The company stocked the first family's Kailua vacation rental home with a large supply of its best products, including its natural handmade Hawaiian soaps, all-natural Hawaiian and botanical lotions, body wash, shampoos, conditioners and tropical hand sanitizers.
Lanikai Bath and Body co-owner Gloria Garvey said, “;We thought our handmade island products would be perfect. After all, the president deserves the best the islands have to offer. Our customers tell us that our heavenly scents bring Hawaii to you no matter where you are.”;
Garvey had an earlier connection to Barack Obama. In 1971, she was a permanent substitute teacher at Punahou School, assigned to Barry Obama's fifth-grade class while his regular teacher taught a special course in the high school.
“;It also makes me so happy that he continues to return to the island he loves and to be able to provide our products to the first family is such an honor.”;
