At the University of Hawaii at Manoa's Fall 2009 Commencement ceremony, Undergraduate Honors Program candidates were Eileen Chau, Henry Cheng, Sara Fares, Kyuryung Hwang, Lindsay Rei Kikawa, Annalia Montany, Samantha Olejniczak, Ian Smith, Kazuki Takizawa and Bih Yuan Tan.
Regents Scholar graduates are Henry Cheng, Sara Fares, Katherine Ishida, Kayla Sakimoto and Aileen Tanaka.
The 10th Anniversary NIKE 5K for Kids Run in Waikiki in September raised $150,000 for Oahu schools. The top fundraising schools were Maemae Elementary School, Maryknoll Schools, Mid-Pacific Institute, Kapolei High and St. Andrew's Priory.
Takanori M. Shiotsu of McKinley High School was named a semifinalist in the 46th annual 2010 National Achievement Scholarship Program. He was among more than 1,600 African-American high school seniors who placed in the program, conducted by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.
