Wong named 'Jurist of the Year'
Former Family Court Judge Frances Wong, who recently retired, is the 2009 “;Jurist of the Year.”;
Chief Justice Ronald Moon recognized Wong for her more than 23 years of “;hard work and hands-on leadership style”; at a ceremony Tuesday in the Hawaii Supreme Court courtroom.
Other judiciary employees recognized included Lester Oshiro, chief court administrator on the Big Island, who received the highest Distinguished Service Award; and Gloria Yoshimoto of the Policy and Planning Department - Administration, who received the Meritorious Service award. Spirit of the Judiciary awards went to probation officer Matelina Aulava; Maui judicial clerk Kristi Tanaka; and Kauai probation officer Alexandra Thompson. Roland Advincula and the Big Island's Legal Documents and Estates and Guardianship Sections each received a Certificate of Commendation.
