Man dies after being pulled from water

A 54-year-old Waipahu man died yesterday after being pulled from the water at West Loch Shoreline Community Park.

The medical examiner's office identified the man as Aurelio Agno.

Emergency crews were called to the park at 8:22 a.m. after a report of a near drowning. Bryan Cheplic, Emergency Services Department spokesman, said when paramedics arrived, firefighters had already retrieved the man from the water and were trying to revive him.

Agno was pronounced dead a short time later at a nearby hospital.

Alleged knife threat causes man's arrest

Police arrested a 26-year-old man who allegedly threatened a 41-year-old man with a knife on Christmas Eve in Kalihi.

At about 9:45 p.m. the men, who police said are roommates, were arguing when the younger man picked up a knife and threatened the other man, police said.

Officers arrested the younger man on suspicion of first-degree terroristic threatening.
