Public's aid is needed to find missing woman

Police are asking for the public's help in finding an 86-year-old Waikiki woman last seen at about 2 p.m. Wednesday at her Lewers Street apartment.

Charlotte Ypil, who suffers from Alzheimer's disease, frequents Waikiki and Ala Moana Center, police said.

She is described as 4 feet 11 inches tall, 120 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. She was wearing an orange top, beige pants and black shoes, and was carrying a multicolored tote bag.

Anyone who sees Ypil is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 955-8300 or *CRIME on a cell phone.

Man, 53, drowns while surfing on North Shore

A 53-year-old man apparently drowned yesterday while surfing a spot on Oahu's North Shore called the Seventh Hole, authorities said.

Emergency Medical Services found the man on shore as firefighters were performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation, the Emergency Services Department reported.

The man was taken in critical condition to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Shark sighting prompts warnings at Nanakuli

Ocean Safety personnel cleared the water and posted warning signs yesterday afternoon after an 8- to 10-foot shark was spotted near shore at Nanakuli Beach Park.

“;The shark was displaying aggressive behavior as it was actively pursuing several turtles in the immediate area,”; said Bryan Cheplic, Emergency Services Department spokesman.

Lifeguards will reassess the situation this morning to decide whether to keep the warning signs posted.

Man, 22, pleads guilty to prostituting minor

A man accused of pimping a teenage girl on Craigslist pleaded guilty Wednesday in federal court to sex trafficking of a minor.

Bronson Iseri, 22, faces a mandatory minimum prison term of 10 years and a maximum of life when he is sentenced in April.

A federal grand jury returned an indictment last year charging Iseri with trafficking two underage girls for commercial sex. In a plea agreement with the government, he pleaded guilty to a charge involving just one girl.

Iseri said the girl approached him in 2007 for help in continuing as a prostitute, and he agreed to advertise her services on the Web.

The girl was 16 at the time but told Iseri she was 17, said Larry Butrick, assistant U.S. attorney. Iseri said the girl told him she was 18.

Iseri is also facing charges in state court of sexual assault and promoting prostitution involving the same girl. That case is scheduled for trial in February.

He remains free on a $50,000 signature bond in the federal case and $65,000 bail in the state case.
