Nevada linebacker Andre Davis was arrested for shoplifting by Honolulu police on Monday and has been dismissed from the team.
Safety Duke Williams has also been suspended and will not play in today's game.
“;I want to apologize to the Sheraton Hawaii Bowl, the people of Hawaii and our fans for their conduct,”; Nevada head coach Chris Ault said in a statement.
Davis was arrested for taking four items valued at about $1,100 from the Duty Free Shops Galleria in Waikiki, according to authorities. He was detained by security and later arrested and charged with second-degree theft. Bail was set at $11,000. He is scheduled to appear in circuit court on Jan. 28.
Davis was the Wolf Pack's backup middle linebacker and had six tackles in 11 games. Williams, a true freshman, recorded 29 tackles as a reserve safety and also played on special teams.
“;This swift action taken by Coach Ault is indicative of his commitment to doing things the right way,”; athletic director Cary Groth said in the release. “;This behavior is not representative of the beliefs and ideals of the Nevada football program, the Wolf Pack athletics department or the University of Nevada.”;
