The annual Toys for Tots Hawaii campaign still needs 15,000 toys for children.

About 30,000 toys have been collected so far. The toy collection deadline is today.

“;We're down to the 11th hour,”; said Chuck Little, a spokesman for the Marine Corps.

The biggest shortfall is in toys for girls ages 7 and up.

Last year 40,000 toys were collected for children in Hawaii. Officials raised the goal to 45,000 toys this year because of the greater need due to the struggling economy affecting many families.

Toys can be dropped off at the Toys for Tots warehouse at Dole Cannery, 650 Iwilei Road. The warehouse is on the makai side of Dole Cannery near Home Depot. Toys will be collected until noon today.

Those who can't make it to the warehouse can drop off toys at Toys R Us at Pearlridge Center until midnight.
