Kahuku needs 2 OTs to trip Kalaheo girls

Kahuku's Alysha Cummings racked up 17 points in a 59-52 double-overtime victory over host Kalaheo in an Oahu Interscholastic Association White Conference girls basketball game last night.

Kourtney Thomas led Kalaheo with 18 points, followed by Tiffany Harada with 12.

Both teams finished with 42 points at the buzzer, but an 11-point run in the second overtime edged the Red Raiders past host Kalaheo.

The Knights, armed with a stingy defense, improved to 2-0 after defeating the Surfriders.

The Seasiders picked up their first win with a balanced attack in which three players scored in double digits.

Beverly Madrid led the way for Waianae with 12 points and Maili Enos-Ramgian followed with 11 points and Brittany Perry contributed with 10 points.

The battle between winless teams was close at halftime with Aiea only trailing by six points, but the Seasiders were able to pull away late.
