Sunset on the Beach tomorrow, Monday

Sunset on the Beach in Waikiki will be a little different this time around, with events happening tomorrow and, instead of Sunday, Monday the 21st in support of the upcoming Sheraton Hawaii Bowl.

The documentary short “;Life for a Child”; and the main feature “;Monsters vs. Aliens”; will highlight tomorrow's event, with live entertainment before the movies by the Pacific Fleet Band. On Monday, special guests from the SMU and Nevada football teams will be attending a pep rally at the beach that follows sets by the band Get Back. The early evening movie will be “;The Express: The Ernie Davis Story,”; about the first African-American football player to win the Heisman Trophy.

Food booths both days will open at 4 p.m.

Magic is on the Koolau scene

With Christmas around the corner, magic is already in the air, particularly at the Koolau Magic Theatre.

The holiday season will be made more festive with the help of David Brown and Harvey Ouchi—excuse me, the Great Davidio and Mr. O—and guest performer Aaron Vermeer. All three musicians will be working parlor, clasp and stage magic in the intimate venue.

In their regular lives, Brown is a practicing dentist (and voted by his peers in recent years as a top-notch one at that), Ouchi is a longtime specialist for the Department of Education, and Vermeer is a full-time member of the Hawaii Air National Guard.
