Bar brews up a tasty night out

Near popular Hanauma Bay, Kona Brewing Co. is a great place to stop after a day at the beach, a long day of work or just to catch up with friends and watch a game. Virtually every seat at the bar offers breathtaking marina and mountain views.
Located in Koko Marina Center, the restaurant recently updated its bar area and renamed it the Liquid Aloha Lounge. Happy hour is offered only in this area, with food specials consisting of a variety of breaded dishes and newly introduced pizzas. I particularly enjoyed the hummus and pita plate, which comes with an array of fresh veggies, olives and peppers.

Despite recent updates, Kona Brewing's pupu menu is still quite minimal. The cocktail menu, however, has changed dramatically and now includes wine and well drinks in addition to draft beers. It's nice to see an effort has been made to accommodate a wider range of guests.
And while not discounted during happy hour, Kona Brewing Co. offers a new drink called the Beer-Tini—a fusion cocktail mixed with liquors, juices and the restaurant's favorite beers. I was quite surprised how delicious a beer in a martini could be. Even if not on special, these interesting mixes are well worth the extra money.
