Inmate flees work line at Ala Moana Beach Park
Police and state deputy sheriffs are looking for a 40-year-old felon with a long list of convictions who escaped from a work line at Ala Moana Beach Park yesterday.
Shane Bernard Caminos, who was serving five years at Oahu Community Correctional Facility for violating parole in 2007, bolted during a lunch break at 11:50 a.m., said Public Safety Deputy Director Tommy Johnson.
The Sheriffs Division and police were immediately notified and conducted a search, but neither he nor his clothing could be found, Johnson said.
Police and sheriffs were contacting relatives and his known associates yesterday, Johnson said.
According to the state Criminal Justice Data Center, Caminos was convicted of first-degree robbery and auto theft in 1989. In 2002 he was convicted of being a felon in possession of a firearm and sentenced to 10 years in prison with a minimum of five years. His parole was revoked in 2007. He was found guilty on Aug. 10 of driving without a license.
Anyone who spots Caminos should not approach him, and is urged to call police and report what he is wearing and in what direction he was traveling.
