Hawaii completed its 2011 nonconference football schedule by replacing one Pac-10 school with another while making sure to avoid a repeat of this year's awkward early-season slate.

UH athletic director Jim Donovan yesterday announced the addition of a home-and-home series with Oregon State for 2011 and 2014. The Warriors will also play UC Davis to fill out the 2011 nonconference schedule.

Hawaii's series with Oregon State will resume on Dec. 3, 2011, at Aloha Stadium. The back end of the contract is set for Sept. 13, 2014, in Corvallis, Ore. The UC Davis game is set for Sept. 24, 2011, in Honolulu.

UH opens 2011 with a home game against Colorado followed by back-to-back road games at Washington and UNLV.

Scheduling UC Davis the next week guarantees the Warriors will not have a string of three straight road games, as was the case this past season when a Seattle-Las Vegas trip preceded their Western Athletic Conference opener at Louisiana Tech.

“;We're trying to do what we can to make sure we don't have three consecutive road trips,”; Donovan said.

The Oregon State game to close the regular season fills a late-season void left when Washington State pulled out of its contract.

When the Cougars pulled out of the game scheduled for Nov. 26, Donovan said Oregon State contacted UH about filling the spot as part of a home-and-home series.

Just as Oregon State, as well as several of the schools UH has scheduled over the next few years, recruits heavily in Hawaii, Donovan sees benefits going both ways. The enhanced schedule could be an attraction to recruits considering signing with the Warriors while perhaps boosting ticket sales as well.

The 2014 game at Oregon State creates another two-game road swing with a game at Colorado the following week.

Hawaii was originally scheduled to play a home game against UNLV on Sept. 13.

That game will now serve as the regular-season finale on Dec. 6.

The Warriors just completed a 6-7 campaign and open next season against USC at Aloha Stadium. They'll then have a two-game road trip at Army and Colorado next season followed by a home game against Charleston Southern before starting WAC play.
