Real estate search business adds city

Honolulu has been added to Roost.com, a residential real estate search engine business based in San Francisco.

Ten other markets were added in addition to Honolulu, bringing Roost.com's roster to more than 8,000 U.S. cities, the company said yesterday. The company powers Web sites for individual Realtors and partners with local Multiple Listing Service boards to match home seekers and sellers.

Listings that can be searched include those from real estate agents, foreclosures, new home construction and homes for sale by owner.

Kauai town seen as travel hot spot

Kauai's west side town of Waimea is predicted to be among the top five U.S. travel destinations next year, according to online travel site TripAdvisor.com.

Waimea, an “;unassuming beach-side town, is the gateway to Waimea Canyon, the largest canyon in the Pacific, which oozes natural beauty,”; the site says.

Seward, Alaska, got the top spot and was described as a “;historic and picturesque town (that) is the gateway to Kenai Fjords National Park.”;

Responses to the site's survey indicate that 41 percent of Americans expect to travel more in 2010 than they did in 2009, and that 92 percent of travelers are planning to take two or more leisure trips in the coming year, up from 89 percent last year. Sixty-six percent said the economy will not affect their travel plans.

Gatorade to turn off Tiger's drink tap

PURCHASE, N.Y. » Gatorade says it is discontinuing its Tiger Woods drink but says it made the decision before the golfer's car accident led to a media firestorm surrounding his personal life.

The decision to drop the drink, called Tiger Focus, was first reported by trade publication Beverage Digest in an issue dated Nov. 25, days before the incident at Woods' home in Florida.

The brand—a unit of PepsiCo Inc.—says the decision does not have to do with recent events. A spokesman says the decision came several months ago. The drink debuted in March 2008. Beverage Digest estimates it represents less than 5 percent of Gatorade's volume. Sales volume of Tiger Focus was down 34 percent this year through October.
