Merritt tops PGA Q-School

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. » Troy Merritt has never played in a PGA Tour event. That's about to change.
Even after making double-bogey on the final hole, Merritt shot a 3-under 69 yesterday to win the PGA Tour qualifying tournament.
The top 25 finishers earned cards on the PGA Tour for 2010.
Two golfers from Hawaii were entered but failed to qualify—Keoke Cotner and Jarett Hamamoto.
Blumenhurst earns LPGA card
Duke star Amanda Blumenherst easily passed her first big test as a pro when she closed with a 4-under 68 to be medalist at LPGA Tour qualifying, one of 20 players to earn cards for next year.
Lehua Wise of Kauai was in position to earn a limited exemption, but shot a 77 yesterday, falling short. Sacred Hearts alum Ayaka Kaneko also failed to qualify.
