1. Early miscues
THE SITUATION:
Wisconsin 0, Hawaii 0, 13:27 remaining, first quarter, Hawaii ball, third and 1 at 50
THE PLAY:
QB Bryant Moniz throws incomplete to RB Leon Wright-Jackson.
THE IMPACT:
Hawaii punts after two incomplete passes with 1 yard to go for a first down on the opening drive.
HAWAII COACH GREG MCMACKIN:
“;We were just out of sync and I'm really surprised. We had excellent practices, the guys were really jacked up and I just think we got beat by a better team.”;
2. Trend setter
THE SITUATION:
Wisconsin 0, Hawaii 0, 9:28 remaining, first quarter, Wisconsin ball, third and 4 at Hawaii 35
THE PLAY:
QB Scott Tolzien finds WR Nick Toon deep on the sideline for a 33-yard gain to the Hawaii 2.
THE IMPACT:
RB John Clay dives into the end zone on the next play and Wisconsin takes a 7-0 lead on its first drive.
WISCONSIN COACH BRET BIELEMA:
“;Hawaii started throwing five defensive linemen out there and you have to be able to throw the ball down the field.”;
3. Moniz picked
THE SITUATION:
Wisconsin 7, Hawaii 0, 6:57 remaining, first quarter, Hawaii ball, second and 10 at Wisconsin 38
THE PLAY:
SS Jay Valai intercepts Moniz's pass with a leaping grab. No Hawaii receiver is in the area.
THE IMPACT:
Wisconsin takes over and eventually scores two more touchdowns before Hawaii gets to the Badgers' side of the field again and makes a field goal. Moniz was intercepted twice and completed 15 of 34 passes.

“;We just never got anything going, we never got in a rhythm and I probably had the worst night of the season.”;
4. Clay day
THE SITUATION:
Wisconsin 21, Hawaii 3, 0:49 remaining, second quarter, Wisconsin ball, third and 2 at Hawaii 3
THE PLAY:
Clay bulls in for his second of three touchdowns, capping a 7-play, 80-yard drive.
THE IMPACT:
Clay gets 111 of his 172 rushing yards before halftime. Wisconsin's long drive is a demoralizing end to the first half for Hawaii.

THE SITUATION:

THE PLAY:
Moniz passes incomplete to SB Greg Salas, who leaves the game with an injury and does not return due to a hamstring injury.
THE IMPACT:
Hawaii punts and Wisconsin goes on an 11-play, 85-yard drive, culminating with Clay's third touchdown.
