Oahu electricity rates remain steady

Hawaii households will see a slight dip in their electricity bills in December.

The average household electricity bill (600 kilowatt-hours per month) for Oahu will drop slightly to $145.09 this month, just 37 cents lower than $145.46 in November.

On Maui the average household bill will go down to $165.25 this month, down 1.2 percent from $167.29 in November.

The Big Island, meanwhile, will still see the highest electricity bills, at $199.31 this month, which is just 0.7 percent less than $200.77 last month.

The effective rates, which include fuel and other charges, for December are at 22.67 cents/kwh for Oahu, 26.20 cents/kwh for Maui and 31.37 cents/kwh for the Big Island.
