Manley wins Gatorade award
Leilehua quarterback Andrew Manley was named the Gatorade Hawaii football player of the year yesterday.
The 6-foot-3 senior led the Mules to the semifinals of the HHSAA State Division I football championships before losing to Kamehameha last week.
Manley completed 247 of 412 passes for 3,099 yards and 28 touchdowns in 13 games this year.
Manley, who carries a 3.14 grade-point average, is a finalist for the national award that will be announced later this month.
Punahou's Manti Te'o won the award the past two seasons.

Vulcans lose to WWU by 34
Amanda Dunbar led three Western Washington players in double figures with 17 points and the Vikings defeated Hawaii-Hilo 80-46 yesterday in Bellingham, Wash.
Kayce Kirihara led the Vulcans (2-5) with 14 points. HPU shot 32 percent (17-for-52) from the field and committed 21 turnovers.
