A $250,000 donation from a Nashville, Tenn., foundation is helping to create a state-of-the-art recording studio at Honolulu Community College for students seeking degrees in the Music and Entertainment Learning Experience, or MELE program.

The new recording studio classroom will be named the Mike Curb Music and Entertainment Learning Experience Studios or Curb MELE Studio, the University of Hawaii Foundation said in a news release.

HCC students in the MELE program can pursue an associate degree in music business emphasis and audio engineering technology.

The degrees will also transfer to Belmont University's Mike Curb College of Entertainment & Music Business in Nashville, where students can continue their education and get a bachelor's degree in music business, audio engineering, entertainment industry studies or songwriting.
