Woman treated after dousing fire
A woman who doused a fire in her kitchen last night complained of breathing difficulties, and an ambulance was called to assist her, a fire official said.
Firefighters responded to a fire reported at 6:38 p.m. yesterday at 2606 Kapiolani Blvd. When they arrived, the woman had already put out the stove fire, said fire Capt. Robert Main.
The woman breathed in some smoke, so firefighters called paramedics, he said.
Third suspect arrested in extortion
Police arrested a third suspect in a Nov. 1 extortion and kidnapping case.
A 38-year-old Ala Moana-area man turned himself in to police yesterday and was arrested on suspicion of first-degree extortion and kidnapping. He was released pending investigation.
Two other suspects were arrested earlier for the same offenses.
The suspects met with the victim, a 53-year-old man, regarding a dispute over money owed to the victim regarding a video-game business, police said. The suspects allegedly assaulted the man and told him they were taking over his business, according to police. The suspects also allegedly threatened the man with bodily harm if he did not leave the island, and held him against his will, police said.
