Jamba Juice helps with PTA

The National PTA and Jamba Juice have created a three-year partnership to fund school-based programs that encourage healthy lifestyle choices.

To help fund their efforts, a School Appreciation Card — a key chain-size swipe card — can be used with every purchase at participating Jamba Juice locations.

Go to a participating store, make a purchase, swipe the card and 12 percent of sales will be donated back to the PTA: 10 percent to local PTAs and 2 percent to the national organization.

Indigo battles sexual violence

Indigo Restaurant joins up with the Pi Sigma Epsilon coed fraternity to put on a fundraiser to help combat sexual violence.

The “;Paper Plates”; event, 5:30 p.m. Dec. 6 at Indigo, is structured like a restaurant meal during which customers make dinner reservations and order off a menu offering Hawaii regional cuisine dishes of appetizer, salad, entree and dessert.

The menu includes appetizer selections of Portuguese sausage wontons and a J-Rome Special; caprese and poke salads; seared opakapaka, garlic-teriyaki pork, Hawaiian plate, classic meatloaf and portobello steak entrees; and dessert choices of chocolate and vanilla pudding pie, banana lumpia and layered puff pastry with cream filling and fresh fruit.

All profits will go toward funding events that raise awareness of sexual violence.

IHOP gift cards ring in holiday

International House of Pancakes restaurants are offering a holiday special on gift cards through Jan. 3. Each $25 gift card will come with an additional $5 coupon for a future visit.

C&K to perform at 'Curator' series

Cecilio & Kapono are the featured artists at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel's “;Curators of Hawaiian Music”; series. The weekly cocktail-style event has two scheduled hourlong performances at 6:30 and 8:30 p.m. on Dec. 3, 10 and 17. Performances are held at the in the Monarch Room. Cost is $35, $25 for children ages 4 to 12. Kamaaina receive a $10 discount.

Special dinner packages are also available at the Azure Restaurant at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel, Beachhouse at Moana Surfrider or Twist at Hanohano at Sheraton Waikiki. Dinner packages are $99 per person, $69 for children. A special Christmas Eve dinner show includes a buffet dinner and ticket to the performance. Cost is $159, $99 for children. A two-drink minimum applies and is not included in any of the packages.

Aid for college at YWCA event

It's “;The Great College Scholarship Give-a-Way,”; sponsored by the YWCA Youth Network.

The event is designed to help students and their families gain the resources, tools and information that they might need in order to potentially be “;college bound.”; Activities include a strengths finder, guest speakers, time with high school and college advisers, help and tips to fill out college applications, help filling financial aid forms, college booths and orientations, and numerous workshops.

The YWCA Youth Network's goal is to award at least $10,000 worth of college scholarships that will be given away to high school students for college.

Ala Moana marks 'ThanksGetting'

Ala Moana Center is dubbing Black Friday as “;ThanksGetting Day,”; with the shopping mall opening at 6 a.m. to give patrons a full day through 9 that night to experience the center's annual day-after-Thanksgiving festivities.

More than 90 merchants will be participating in the ThanksGetting Day Cheat Sheet, a handy brochure outlining their early-morning specials, all-day in-store sales and promotions. The sheets will be available throughout the mall at the Customer Service Center and mall-level information kiosks, and can be downloaded at www.alamoanacenter.com. Free valet parking coupons are also available at the Web site.

Shoppers can also receive a free limited-edition Big Santa ornament with $500 in holiday receipts, while supplies last.
