Show explores Galileo's findings

The Bishop Museum Planetarium has added a new live interactive show, The Astronomy of Galileo. The program explores how the Italian astronomer used his discoveries to prove that the earth revolves around the sun, a theory for which Galileo was accused of heresy by the Roman Inquisition. It covers his many discoveries between 1609 and 1613, including his studies of the moon, Venus and Jupiter.

The 35-minute program is shown daily at 3:30 p.m. (except for Tuesdays and Christmas, when the museum is closed). Planetarium admission is included in regular admission to Bishop Museum.

Resort plans first Thanksgiving

The Embassy Suites-Waikiki Beach Walk will host it's first Thanksgiving day buffet from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Nov. 26 on the resort's Grand Lanai.

The buffet will feature oven-roasted turkey with cranberry-ginger chutney, Hawaiian sea-salt crusted prime rib of beef, crab-crusted mahi mahi topped with a papaya and cilantro salsa, as well as stuffed pork-loin with sun-dried papaya, mango and pineapple.

Side dishes will include Portuguese-sausage stuffing mixed with watercress; guava-glazed sweet potatoes with toasted coconut, green bean casserole, wild mushrooms, and fried Maui onions; corn on the cob and garlic creamed potatoes.
