Taxi driver foils robbery attempt
Police arrested a 21-year-old man in the robbery of a taxi driver who chased down the suspect and held him until officers arrived.
The incident took place about 3:30 a.m. yesterday at Ua Drive and Pakui Street in the Waialae area.
One of two male passengers, who appeared to be in his 20s, choked the driver and took money from his pocket, police said. The other one took his car keys and cell phone, police said.
The suspects fled on foot, but the taxi driver, 33, chased them and caught the man who allegedly took his phone and keys.
Crews worked to dislodge a crane that fell on a parked car, nearly killing two women.

Police are searching for the second man, described as Asian, in his 20s, 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighing 120 pounds, with dark hair. He was wearing a dark-colored T-shirt and blue jeans.
Man allegedly struck police officer
A 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of disorderly conduct and first-degree assault against police after allegedly striking a police officer with his fist at 3:30 a.m. yesterday at Kalia Road and Beachwalk.
The officer responded to an argument between two men and suffered a bruise to the left side of his chin when he was struck during the investigation, according to police. The officer was treated at the Queen's Medical Center and released.
