Ashes of unborn baby stolen from residence
The ashes of an unborn baby son were stolen from a plastic urn at a townhouse residence in Waimanalo, along with family jewelry.
Kalani Enos Mejia said she does not care about the jewelry, including her husband's wedding ring.
But she wants whoever stole her son Samson Makanaokahakuloa's ashes to return them to the family — no questions asked, no charges filed.
“;I'm praying,”; Mejia said last night. “;I hope they return him somehow, someway. We don't even want the jewelry back.”;
The burglary took place at the family's home at the Waimanalo Banyan Tree townhouses on Kaauiki Place sometime during the day, she said.
Her husband discovered the break-in when he came home sometime after 4 p.m.
Mejia said the ashes of her 5-month-old stillborn were in a cloth pouch in a square plastic container that was taken from a bag.
Radio personality Kaleo Pilanca, who works at 102.7 “;Da Bomb,”; said he has asked the public to help Mejia and for whoever did the burglary to return the ashes.
“;All they want is the safe return of the ashes.”;
