The National Cancer Institute has awarded $12.6 million to the Cancer Research Center of Hawaii and University of Guam to address cancer health disparities in Pacific Islanders.
The grant supports a partnership between the CRCH and University of Guam established over the past six years by Dr. Carl-Wilhelm Vogel, former CRCH director and principal investigator.
The Hawaii center will receive more than $4.6 million and the University of Guam nearly $8 million, Vogel said in a news release.
“;This award will allow us to conduct regionally important research projects and to address cancer health disparities in Guam and other parts of Micronesia,”; Vogel said.
